It’s Only a Dream!

 By
Caryl, of Melvyn Caryl

As I began to write this article I did a little search on the internet for “Dream Songs,” and I was not surprised at what I found. It is quite clear from the

51, 500,000 listings that came up on that search engine that dreams have been an important resource of poets and song writers.  Let me give you a few familiar examples:

Will My Dreams Come True?
All I have to do is Dream,
Last Night I had the Strangest Dream,
Sweet Dreams,
Summer of My Dreams,
I’ll see you in My Dreams…

I am sure you can think of others to add, for the list is uncountable. But just what are dreams, and how can we use them to aid in our every day life? In this article we are going to explore what Zeb and Zarna have to say about dreams.

When Zeb and Zarna came into our lives as channeled beings some years ago, I did not consciously realize that I had any particular psychic gifts.  Oh I had the occasional precognition—like thinking about someone and the next minute they would call on the phone, or seeing an object in my mind that had not yet been invented, to find it come on the market a short time later. I had scattered incidences of these things over the years, but I did not give them serious thought.

Of course, before the channeling began, I did talk to God, but only in recent years have they answered back as Zeb and Zarna. So I now understand that I was much more connected than I realized.

Anyway, I did not know I had any particular talent regarding relationship evaluation or dream reading until the a few years ago. I guess more than anything I just did not notice I could do these things until one day someone confided in me one of their dreams—a rather long somewhat convoluted dream rife with symbols.

Well there it was! Instantly I knew what it all meant. In my mind I could see the meaning as clear as day. The advantage I had at that time was I knew this person very well, and I could see exactly how the symbols within the dream story related to current circumstances.  However, the significance of the symbolism seemed to escape my friend’s understanding. I have found since that most people have a harder time seeing the meaning within their own dreams, where it is sometimes easier to see the meaning in someone else’s dreams. It is a case of being too close to the forest to see the trees. And often taking the dream too literally.

It was not long before I accepted that this was something I could do, and when Mel asked me to interpret one of his dreams, which I did, it was not long before Zarna popped in with some dream information.

Below are come clips from the Messages where dreams are mentioned and some indication that they do not all originate from us. These clips illustrate where some of them come from, who might instigate them and why.

21:1. Yes, we are with you always, but especially when you call out to us on so many many levels--you are blasting through so strong we couldn't or wouldn't ignore you. Please rest, still your feverish heart. All will be as you have seen. Your dreams are not of your creation alone, but glimpses into your future. Your future will be as you have seen it.

34:27 …Think this isn't frustrating? You should see your guides. If they had physicality they would have plucked themselves bald long before now from pulling out their hair at some of your choices and missed opportunities. They would be hoarse from yelling in your ear words you couldn't hear, giving you dreams that you ignored, and then you make decisions which thwarted all yours and their plans for your incarnation.

37:83 Now, the dreams you had as a child were more "visions," than dreams. Many were of us, and the "other world" we took you to was here, your Home. [on the Otherside] Children remember their Home more clearly than adults remember and often get "homesick" for the familiar. So we would visit you and give you the comfort of knowing that it is all still there, just the way you "imagined" (remembered) it would be.

65:51 …You don't have to wait until your passing or "death" to be with them for a while, nor to verify if any of what we have told you in this Message is true. You can verify it at anytime through the process of Astral Travel (OBE), for nightly in your dreams you return Home. Why do you think sleep is so restorative to your kind and others? You return to the land of your creation--the Astral, where love combines with thought and creates the miracles of both your "Dream World" and your "Reality." Do not be confused into believing that life’s illusion is reality—and mistake the reality of your "Dream World" as an illusion.

67:37. Nor must you "cross over" to the Otherside to visit these places. You go there every night within your dreams when you Astral Travel.

73:1 Q.  Why is it necessary to interpret dreams? Why can’t our spirit Guides, or whatever give it (the message) to us straight. Oh, I’m getting the answer:

Answer : Zeb:> The reason we do not give you such straight answers is that life is based on your choices, not our choices of you. You are the experiential aspect of God—not we. What we give you through dreams serves many functions—it releases your pent up feelings where you can act out in a safe environment (the Astral). Yet each dream comes through multiple layers—the meaning is what you intuit it to be, not always what it is. Dreams are but another mirror on which you sense the reflections of meanings. Your kind has used many other things for the same purpose. In Ancient times your kind “cast lots” (divining sticks, stones or dice) or read cards, saw futures in crystal balls, or in the position of the stars. None of these have intrinsic value other than what you give them. Dream interpretation is your way, Caryl, to cast your lots and divine the meaning you see there. The meaning is more what you see, rather than the dream. Certainly reoccurring symbols have intrinsic value, but never forget, you, not we, assign the meaning to those symbols.

83:57 ...Others tap into their inner selves and get the correct meanings and are able to predict the future and interpret dreams correctly as Caryl does. Others read the stars or the cards. Some find symbolic meaning in the lines of a person’s palm or in the tea leaves, or the falling of joss sticks. The secret to this inner knowing is not in the device used, but within the reader. The device is but one vehicle to get them there. Their true ability comes from an inner knowing.

It is clear from these passages that dreams are lumped into the same category as OBE, Astral Travel and Visions. There is a link because they happened from the same dimension. In this other dimension we are much more adept at instantly creating reality with the power of our thoughts—thus the difference between Astral travel and Astral projection. One is an unbiased visit into another dimension; the other is a projection of our thoughts within another dimension. This is why we on this website have used caution when describing our experiences in these other places for we do not want to plant seeds in your mind that you will later recreate as your experience. Your Astral Travel should be without expectation. Approached this way, your experience then will be “real.” You will experience what is there not what you think is there.

The Importance of Dreams

Dreams, as Zeb and Zarna have explained, can come from a variety of sources. If they (Zeb and Zarna or other higher level beings) want to get something across to us and one is not adept at channeling, dreams are one of the ways they speak to us. Often our spirit guides use this method to communicate with us. We can communicate to ourselves in dreams—our subconscious revealing knowledge to our conscious mind. And our Composite Selves—those aspects of us, former incarnational personalities—who have something to share will often use this method to give us information or remind us of something we might have forgotten.  So dreams are wonderful tools and a very reliable way to understand where you are spiritually if we know how to use them. After all, as opposed to a psychic reading, dreams come through you, not someone else who may be a good reader, but which path are they reading? The one you will take? Or the one not taken?  (Read: The Path Not Take )

We should point out something important that ZZ said above: "It [dreams] releases your pent up feelings where you can act out in a safe environment…" Some dreams are simply fantasies where we act out our emotions. They are no more complicated than that and have no prophetic or symbolic meaning.  Some dreams are just us playing in the astral and expressing our emotions.

Visions

Once I realized that I could interpret dreams—a skill that Zarna tells me that I have had for many lifetimes—I began to remember vividly a vision that came to me over 25 years ago, where I was told about the spiritual teaching I would receive. At the time I did not realize that this teaching would be given through me and my twin. (Did not know there was such a thing as a Twin Soul back then.)  However, that particular vision had many levels and it still playing out.

Important dreams and visions are often indelibly printed within our memories and will usually remain there to be dragged out like old videos and played over and over again to see if we missed anything in the original interpretation—or perhaps our circumstances have changed and we now understand the symbols in a more profound way. Quite often when we have a dream we “see” or understand the layer of the dream that pertains to our present (when the vision occurred) and the future reality slips our notice until the time is right for the unveiling.

Often these kinds of visions occur in a waking state—sometimes in meditation-- and are the kind that comes from the higher level beings. They usually have to do with giving us a glimpse into confusing occurrences of our present that are concerning us, and the direction of our future based upon your present choices. We do get help with these things. Quite often spiritual information about our direction and achievements are revealed to us in symbolic term.

What about Recurring Dreams?

When a dream happens over and over again, your subconscious or anyone of the entities that instigate communication to you through your dreams is trying to tell you something. This could be said of most dreams but especially for this type of dream.  In either case, the dream is telling you there is an issue in your life that you need to address. Most dreams have important information, and unfortunately we often forget what we dreamed or don’t know how to interpret them. So they will keep repeating until we acknowledge the meaning of the dream.

Once you unscramble the message and take action, the dream usually stops. As always the most difficult thing is to look at the dream objectively. If you cannot interpret it and it continues, then I would suggest you ask for help with interpretation.

Quite often with a recurring dream, there is a message that change is necessary—either in your thinking or action. If the dream activates an uncomfortable emotional response, then try to step away from that and focus on the story and symbols and how it might relate to a current situation in your life.  Don’t be discouraged if one recurs when you think you have dealt with the issue.  Sometimes there are layers to a dream—take another good look and try to figure out what you might have missed.

Nightmares

Like the recurring dreams, nightmares are also dreams that have a message and through a frightening story tries to get your attention. Often they deal with deeper problems, sometimes issues involving work, or relationships that might be repressed. Everyone has an occasional nightmare, but frequent nightmares are often a sign of undue stress and that it is time to seriously consider the intended message.  Causes can range from fears, insecurities, health problems, relationship issues, general life stresses and trauma.

Daydream

Most of us do not consider daydreams as dreams. But we will speak about them briefly here. These are usually not symbolic, moments of half awareness where we “mull” over an issue. Unfortunately, daydreams tend to be negative in that we often think about the worst case scenario of any given situation. If you find yourself falling into a pattern of this then it would be to your advantage to flip the switch to contemplating the perfect, most desirable result.

Also daydreams can work like a rehearsal of something important to come. You are in a half-aware state, yet they can be of value if focused on positive. Just monitor your daydreams and watch for negativity.

Some daydreaming takes us away from where we are at that moment to where we might like to be, and this is a safe and harmless escape. Often very creative inspiration comes from these moments of musing.

Lucid Dreams

Lucid dreams are dreams that we can control and direct them in any way we choose.  This is a skill that can be learned. This kind of dreaming allows us again to rehearse different outcomes of a particular scenario. Some people can plan a dream and once it starts, manipulate the outcome. We can face difficult circumstances with confidence.  We can actually practice skills that we might use in a waking state, like dancing, sports, public addresses, writers block, or anything we feel may be a challenge in waking state. Many have had these types of dreams without trying—and often dreams of flying are lucid dreams.

Most often lucid dreaming happens during our sleep and we become conscious that we are dreaming and have influence over which direction it goes.  I can remember doing this for a very long time—since I was a child, long before I knew it had a name.  Like any dream, there maybe valuable information within the dream story that you should record.

Remembering Our Dreams

I have heard many people say, “I never dream.” Well, yes they do, they just don’t remember them. This can happen for various different reasons--over fatigue is the most common--often the result of our fast paced society, but even if you are “dead to the world,” there are things you can do that might help you remember.

1. Go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time.

2. Avoid alcohol or drugs before you go to bed.

3. Tell yourself before you go to bed that you will remember your dreams when you wake up.

4. Keep a note pad and pencil by your bed and record the dream and date.

5. If a dream wakes you up in the middle of the night, record it immediately. Do not wait until morning. You will most likely not remember it.

6. When you wake up in the morning, lie still for a few moments and take a few minutes to allow yourself to bring to consciousness any images or feelings. Write them down and date the entry.

7. Set the stage. Tell yourself that you are going to dream about a certain thing. Have it on your mind before you go to sleep.

Help with Interpretation

When recording a dream, write down everything you can remember. Be especially cognizant of the details. These provide symbolic reference that at the time may seem unimportant but can give the reader of the dream added information. Note all the little stuff—like the color of the carpet, the location, any objects that are part of the setting. Was there grass or were you standing on dirt. All these things if you can remember them are important. As you begin to record your dream more will come to your conscious memory. Sometimes a sketch is helpful.  Don’t forget the colors and what you were feeling during the dream. What were your emotions?  Excited, frightened, happy, sad, indifferent? Were you the observer or are you a character that interfaces with other characters in the dream?  Were you able to direct the dream and have some influence on the out come?

Here is a very important factor. Jot down what is going on in your life at the time of the dream. Were you worried about something? Were you excited about a new relationship in your life? New job? Loss of employment? Death in the family? Did you just break up with your lover?

Record anything that stands out in your mind as an emotional change. There may not be anything within your dream at that moment you can connect with, but upon looking back, if you have recorded the conditions of you life at the time of the dream, it may come to you later. With another look from the perspective of time, you might see a clearer connection to the symbols. This might not help that particular situation, but you will be more aware of your dream connection in the future.

How is Dream Interpretation Done?

Dream interpretation is partly an intuitive process, and partly connecting life circumstances with the symbols in the dream.  Do not pay attention to books or articles that give stock meaning for particular symbols. Most symbols and their meaning within a dream are unique to the person dreaming. In other words, one can not use the same interpretation of a symbol for everyone. Each symbol is unique to the dream story and the dreamer. It is within the context of the story and the subject that you can understand the symbol.

The Gods and your spirit guides speak to you in your own unique symbol languageone they are hoping you will understand. They are not going to use symbols that have no meaning for you. Let me give you an example.

Let’s say you have a cat in your dream. What could that mean?  Well it depends on how you relate to cats. If you think of them as cuddly little creatures that you love, then you are going to connect with that symbol in a way that relates to your connection with cats. But what if when you were a child you tangled with a wild cat that bit and scratched you and left you with a lasting dislike of cats? Your connection with cats would be completely different. Our spirit guides know our history and would use these symbols in ways that would be meaningful and specific to us. Now if they (your guides) know that you have a dislike of cats—maybe even a fear, and your guides are trying to caution you about something, they might use that cat to warn you. Remember the Cat!
This would make perfect symbolic sense to that person.

I should also caution that not all symbols for one person will mean the same thing in different dreams. A cat could mean one thing in one dream and another in another dream—or just simply a cat as a prop. Not all things in dreams have symbolic meaning. Sometimes objects are simply the stage upon which the dream drama is played.

So don’t be distracted from your natural intuition by what others teach about dream symbols. Look at your dream from your eyes and your heart and let it speak to you as it was meant to.

When I do a dream reading, I am conscious of these things, and if I am in question, I always ask what a particular symbol means to person I am reading for. This is why for me to help a person understand what the dreams is trying to reveal to them, it is necessary for us to work together to find these hidden meaning.

I work only from dreams that are recorded. Except that I sometimes get cornered into doing a reading on the fly when someone just tells me their dream. This is not nearly as effective for me—I will only get a surface reading. When I have the dream on the computer, I can take it line by line. You see, I am then working with the dreamers account—a firm one that they have recorded. And as I “space out” or “tune in” in front of the screen, I allow myself to get into it. The symbols and meanings begin to link and I record the interpretation in color right within the sentences. It always amazes me how the meaning is just there and comes to the surface.

Dreams are an important part of our lives and more attention should be paid to what our Gods, our spirit guides, our composite selves or our subconscious is trying to tell us. God does speak to us in many ways—this is one of them. Everyone is capable of channeling, but many will not. Every one dreams and these dreams are just as useful as any channeling session.

I will see you in your dreams! …
