Thanks to Google many new visitors are coming to this website seeking information on Soul Mates. Those who have been with us for a while know that this information can be found on this site, but is it easy to find? No. There are many articles, and more being added every month. With the exception of this article and Finding Your Soul Mate, that familiar term is not found in any other title (so far).

Soul Mates include -- Twin Souls, Near Twins and Companion Soul Mates which are found with more frequency in these article titles. Many new visitors come here looking for information on Twin Souls. That is understandable, but some lose sight of the fact that any kind of Soul Mate is a blessed spiritual relationship.

So if this is your first visit to The Voice, welcome. There may even be something of benefit for those who have read every article on this site. Even if you may not yet be interested in the spirituality behind Soul Mates, channeled messages from the Other Side, Goddess Festivals, or even "Melvyn Caryl," (that's us) -- this article will still hold relevance.

So You Want A Soul Mate?

Let's start by defining that term so we will better understand each other. A Soul Mate could include, “The One Perfect Love,” One who you can love, who loves you equally in return and doesn't try to change you into their fantasy ideal version of a man/woman. One who isn't afraid to say, "I love you," and mean it in terms of a spiritual connection and not just a physical connection. One who is in for the "long haul—through the good times and not so good times. One who accepts "commitment" and doesn't run from it like a child from the evening bath. I am sure you can add more to the list but this is a good start.

Now with a mutual understanding of the kind of relationship we are talking about, you need to decide what specifics you are looking for in a relationship. Some people would like nature to take its course, and just let a relationship evolve, but in a good lasting relationship, planning is the key. Of all our planned or charted experiences, the ‘relationship’ is where we face our most difficult challenges and make our greatest spiritual strides. It is important to ask yourself some questions: Is family and having children important to you? Or are you more interested in companionship? This will make a difference in what type of Soul Mate that will best suite your life plan. And it is important to understand that at different times in your life you may have different needs and desires. Someone in their 20s will desire a relationship that has different aspects than a relationship started at the age of 50. These are things to consider.

How Do You Find Your Soul Mate?

You begin by taking a real close look at yourself. "Myself?" I can hear you ask. You are looking for another, person and we tell you to look at yourself. Why?

Because the search for your Soul Mate begins with a long hard look in the mirror.

You must attain the qualities you seek in another. If you want someone to love you, you have to love yourself. If you want someone who is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, thrifty, courageous and attentive, you must exhibit these same characteristics. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of Like Attracts Like, we suggest that you use the search engine and learn about how others are drawn to you through the Law of Attraction or attractor fields. (key words: Law of Attraction, or Like Attracts Like.)

Do you like the person you see in the mirror? If not, it's time for a makeover that comes from within—or you will draw a mate to you just like the you, that you see in the mirror. Once you have discovered who you really are, you will be content with yourself and you will also discover that you don't need anyone else to make yourself complete. You are complete in yourself. You don't need someone else to make you happy. In truth, only you can make yourself happy or sad. It's all in how you view things.

Anything less than being what you seek, and your relationship will come up lacking. Do you want a Soul Mate who needs you to keep them happy? If you examine your desires, you will find that what you really want is someone to be happy with. There is a big difference. The first is dependent. The second is sharing.

Okay, What's Next?

All this pre-planning will help you in your search for the perfect mate. Shared interests can cover a wide range of activities from skiing, surfing and sky diving (for the more daring) to movies, dining out and fine wines (for those of us who are less daring.)

What's next is getting to know each other, which means learning about shared interests. Wouldn't it be nice if you and your Soul Mate enjoyed doing things together? "Sure!" I can almost hear you say. "That's what companionship is all about." But to know your shared likes and dislikes, you have to engage in discussion.

This next point is a very important element that we’ve not touched on before on this site, and that is the importance of frank and honest discussion—not always easy in a time when we have been programmed to think that he is from Mars, and she is from Venus and communication is risky business. This may be true of very young souls who have not approached any level of Bi-gender balance, but if you are reading this article and are seeking a spiritual base in a relationship, you are likely beyond that point. This article is speaking to individuals who have begun to understand the duel aspects of masculine feminine within themselves.

I am not saying it is easy. What I am saying is that the differences in masculine and feminine communication styles can be bridged by desire to work together and achieve understanding. If cultural conditioning and egos can be put to bed for just a little while, then a working relationship can be achieved. Too often those looking for a Soul Mate get caught up in the physical and spiritual aspect of their connection and the importance of their ability to verbally communicate on grounded issues is over looked. There is no substitute for good honest dialogue where you explore your each other’s feelings, likes and dislikes, needs and fears and the ability to achieve reasonable compromise. This is the most important aspect of early encounters with a prospective Soul Mate. Start out with good communication skills from the beginning, and you set the tone for a long-lasting relationship that will serve both of your heart’s desires.

Even though Soul Mates include Twin Souls as well as Near Twins and Companion-Souls, certain things apply to Twin Souls that don't apply to the others, but the basis is the same. Different needs can be met with each type of Soul Mate. Our article on synchronicities will give you clues in what to look for. You should not go looking for your Twin Soul, for they are only brought to you when both are at the point of bi-gender balance. (See Glossary) However, you can seek a Companion Soul Mate or a Near Twin Soul Mate. Each will exhibit different compatible qualities.

A Near Twin Soul Mate will share with you many of the same synchronicities that are found between Twin Souls. This is because your Twin Soul and all your Near Twins were soul-born within seconds of each other and are gifted with the same role class—meaning that you will all have the same aptitudes. (It is important to note that through successive incarnations these amplitudes may reveal themselves in varying ways. So don’t look for the exact same developed abilities, but notice the similar inborn talent that one must have to achieve a particular skill. This way you will find the qualities of your likeness.)

A Near Twin Soul Mate has the distinction of feeling like the perfect love that is so often and mistakenly attributed to the Twin Soul relationship. Near Twins are practically mirror images of each other. They get along well and the relationship has very few bumps in the road. This is not a relationship one would be lead to if they have charted learning experiences that involve struggles of self worth or personal sovereignty issues, (unless they have already been dealt with in a former relationship) for compatibility between Near Twins is almost a given.

Companion Soul Mates are often very different from each other—usually from the same soul group, and in many cases have had a strong past life history. There is an attraction to each other caused from familiarity—they remember each other on a soul level—which may or may not be on a conscious level. In this relationship the couple achieves a working balanced by their cooperative differences. Through lifetimes they have come to appreciate their differences. There is genuine love and respect between them but there will be fewer synchronicities.

These are relationships that are ideal for those who are looking to raise a family or build a business together. In the early stages of this relationship where family and children are involved, the couple have a lot in common because they have the duties that come with the responsibilities of a family. This can become a cohesive relationship that will serve long term stability. The only draw back is that there are fewer personal interests in common, and once the family is grown there may be a feeling of lack. For instance, one might like to watch TV; the other read books. One might love the excitement of lots of friends; the other maybe more reclusive. These are not serious differences and can be bridged. But they do often exist.

How About Religious or Spiritual Beliefs?

"Oh! That doesn't matter! Having fun and good times, that's what counts!" Really? Then you are talking about a "mate" without the "soul."

"Well, I wouldn't say that!"
But you just did. (Play along. I'm building to an important point.) One's spiritual or religious belief has a direct affect on the way they look at life and others?

What if the male of the pair said: "The man is the head of the house, and the wife's role is to obey her husband?"

I can just about hear every 21st Century bride-to-be yell an appropriate expletive at this computer screen. It must be considered that this is the mindset of several major current day religions. What if you as the woman of this couple were expected to wear a dress with sleeves down to your wrists and a hem down to your ankles, not cut your hair, paint your nails or wear lipstick?

Did I hear another expletive?

We aren't talking about some Middle Eastern sect but a homegrown version of Christianity found right here in the U.S.

We would have you fully consider the importance of spiritual beliefs. What if you believe in a loving God who doesn't judge and condemn, but your prospective partner holds to a fundamental belief that does. Don't you think they would be likely to judge and condemn you and your friends who believe differently?

If you want more than a "mate," then it is important to consider that the "soul" is there for a reason. Don’t sell short the all encompassing term of Soul Mate. There is a whole spirituality built around the Soul Mate concept that is older than all the present day religions. Its purpose is to empower you with the truths that the world's dogmatic beliefs would rather keep from you. To be adequately prepared to meet your Soul Mate requires some study to know what it is you are looking for. A quick look at our Library of Articles or the Synopsis Page will show you that there is a large number of articles on this website. More are being added each month. They are free. All that is required is the time to read them. You can even download a "printer friendly" version from the website.

You can "pick and choose" and read at your leisure, but a word to the wise ... they are all interrelated. When you skip one, thinking you are not interested in The Emerald Tablet you are likely to miss something important. Nor do you have to worry that we are going to try and convert you to our way of belief. That is not our thing. This is not a cult, or a religion. You have a right to "take what you can and leave the rest."

What Does All This Have to Do with Soul Mates?

Finding your Soul Mate depends on what you believe your Soul Mate to be. We have a number of visitors and Spiritual Family members who are convinced that they have met their Twin Soul. Maybe they have. It is not up to us to say one way or another, but ZZ has given us some clear and specific guidelines as to what level of soul development one must attain before they will be drawn to their Twin Soul. It is important for the individual to ascertain if these qualities are apparent in the life of both of the proposed Twins.

Some of the same guidelines apply for a Soul Mate. A Soul Mate is not just any kind of companion--I think we established that. They are special. Studying the articles on this site well help you attain the development necessary to achieve your goal.

A word of explanation. None of these articles are based on what others have said--these are all direct revelations from Zeb and Zarna. So they will not necessarily agree with what others have to say. But like you, Melvyn Caryl have a spiritual background. It's not too hard to discover the spiritual path we have traveled separately and together. While this has influenced us, we try extremely hard to not bias the knowings we both get from Zeb and Zarna. Most of the time we are successful, and when we make an error, ZZ usually catches it and we inform our readers of the error.
