And following Mel’s crisis my husband experienced health problems for which there was another outpouring of prayers and healing from many of you. He is doing great! And we are all truly thankful and appreciative of your loving attention.  

It has been my observation that many of us lately have experienced some form of personal challenge where we are forced to face our life in a different way—twin soul adjustments, health crisis, relationship trials, occupational changes, moving to a new location, loss of a loved one, living arrangements where an added new member or loss of a member changes the dynamics of the family—one or all of these have touched our readers in some way or another in the recent past—many in the last few weeks.

I hear some of you asking why? Why now, and why me? And how come so many are touched? All good questions and I’m not sure I have all the answers but I do believe I have some.  

Many of you have confided in me, and have shared your personal struggles, and I am not going to pick on any one of you. I will speak in generalities—and I will use myself as an example.

For those of us who find the spiritual life the center of our focus, this is a time of transition. We are living in the last days of the Piscean Era and the beginning of a New Age. That is not new to most of you. Some refer to this as the Aquarian Age, and it is, but it is more that that. It is also the end of a Grand Cycle of the Universe and the beginning of a new Grand Cycle of the Universe.

We are talking of a physical event that happens once in a million years--so seldom that there is no recorded history of the last ending/beginning of a Grand Cycle. This is not to be confused with the astrological cycle that so many point to as the end of the world. Zeb assures us that this is the beginning of a new cycle but not the end of the world.

What is happening right now is a huge push by many mature incarnated souls who have planned to finish their incarnation charts at this time. Meaning this is the last life they have scheduled and if all goes as they have planned they will not return to physicality unless they chose to do so for service. Some who are younger souls have planned to be of service during this difficult transition. Now when I say the end/beginning—I am not speaking in terms of the exact day that the calendar reads December 21st, 2012 , but rather an approximation. There will be overlaps of individual souls who will usher in the New Era.

What does this have to do with the difficulties that we are experiencing right now? Well those who are finishing their charts are on an accelerated path, having to finish up all the ‘lessons’ they have planned to accomplish as quickly as possible if they are to be of service in this period. In most cases, the greater the service, the more advanced the soul, the more difficult the lesson in preparation for the part they are destined to play. 

This maturation process happens through the exact sort of difficulties we have been witnessing. You planned it this way! Your guardians and guides are pushing you toward encounters that will bring you the exact experience that you need to fulfill your charts and to give you the skills that will be needed in times soon to come. Do you want an easy out at the expense of having to return to repeat the lesson? I don’t think so.

The important part is that we have been given each other to help us through these tough times. How many of you have watched a loved one go through the same sort of difficulty over and over again? I know I have. This is especially easy to see with children. They make the same mistakes over and over until they learn that, “this is not fun.”

With spiritual lessons the steps are more subtle. But I can guarantee you that if you look carefully at your present situation you will find, more than likely, that it is in some way a repeat—not exactly—but similar to something you have gone through before--and if not in this life, in the one before. So why is it happening again? Because we didn’t "get it" last time. And that means we need to take a really close look.

The last time you dealt with something like this what were your emotions? What were your reactions? Can you see the repeat of your reaction? Do you react or respond—there is a difference. Where there is hurt, there is usually fear. How does fear enter the picture? Eventually you can usually reduce all these difficulties down to some form of fear. Ask yourself what you are afraid of in this situation?

I guarantee that none of us are victims. We are all creators of our reality, and if we are experiencing difficulties, one way or another, we have created them—through direct action. Through the law of attraction, or through pre-life charting. Sometimes a situation is a combination of all of the above.  

Usually when we think of creating our reality we think of creating something positive. Like a change in our vocation or acquiring something new or a new situation that will allow us more freedom etc. But we are just as good at creating things that are not so positive. Often our most difficult challenges come for unwise choices--our own creation.

If you do not like your present situation, change it. We are sovereign Creators, and the sooner we accept our Divinity, the sooner the tests will diminish, and eventually come to an end.

Okay I said I would use myself as an example of one of these latest challenges. Mel got sick. This was not something that he did to me, but probably for me. His illness could lead to the end of his life. I reacted with the fear of loss. Of course I was concerned for him, but I was more concerned for me, for I know that he does not fear going Home and nether do I.

I felt unprepared to finish alone without Mel what Zeb and Zarna have asked us to do. So I was jarred into possibly facing something that I thought was way down the road. I let myself stew in that fear for several days, feeling unprepared.

Now here is the part that is cool. I had so many of you out there to help me get past that. You see, we don’t have to do it all alone. We have to decide for ourselves—the decision is ours, but we don’t have to go through the pain and turmoil alone. We have our spiritual family to help us over the worst spots. And several of you were really helpful to kick me in the tail and wake me up.

Did I learn something? Of course I did! Several things. First, that I should not rely so much on Mel to do the bulk of the channeling. I can do it, and as I have been so politely nudged by ones I love—I must do it. Secondly, I would not have been chosen by Zeb and Zarna if I were not capable of what they require. And third was to take appropriate action, respond by doing what I could to keep Mel with us as long as possible, and begin to work on my channeling skills. I channel every day, I am just not as good about recording it as Mel is.

Mel’s illness provided an important opportunity for me. Did I create this? Well I did not create his illness, he did that. But I am responsible for my reaction to it. And by that I created the lesson for myself—it was purely my own creation. 

You see, it is not what happens to us that is important—it is how we respond to what happens to us that matters.  I realize that my little bump in the road is not nearly as difficult as  the bumps others may face. But we all bring into our lives that which will serve us, and if it does not, then it is up to us to change it.  I changed my thinking—from negative to positive. And I am grateful for the experience for I am stronger today. I will not have to experience this again.

I hope this helps others understand why we are experiencing these things. It is not because we are spiritually immature; it is because our potential is so great. Bless the tests and those who bring them to us for they are the catalyst of our spiritual growth.

It is through the smelter’s fire that the sword is forged.
